Description
The Maldivian Lemon pepper is a unique variation derived from the Maldivian Heart chili pepper, which hails from the Maldives. Being an "off-type" pepper, the Maldivian Lemon doesn't closely resemble its original variety. Given that Scotch Bonnets also grow in the Maldives, it's possible that cross-pollination between the two may have influenced its DNA. This pepper stands out as one of the largest yellow / orange habanero you can encounter. Typically, plants that produce large peppers yield fewer overall, but this isn't the case with the Maldivian Lemon—it’s incredibly prolific. They mature from green to yellow, eventually turning to yellow-orange if left to ripen further. In terms of heat, it's mid-range for a habanero, offering a citrusy flavour.
