Description

The Takanotsume chili pepper, also known as the Hawk Claw Chili, originates from Japan. Its talon shape gives it a distinctive appearance. The plant grows well in a pot, reaching about 50 cm in height. Despite its compact size, it's an incredibly prolific producer, bearing an abundance of bright red upright growing pods. It’s an easy to grow chili.

It's a staple in Japanese cuisine and is often used in dishes needing an extra kick. It’s also one of the main ingredients of shichimi, a common Japanese spice mixture containing seven ingredients. Additionally, Takanotsume peppers are excellent for drying and can be turned into flavourful pepper flakes and spicy powder. Pickling these peppers is also a great way to preserve their unique flavour for later use.
